Both of the books I have out so far did not just appear overnight.
The Devil's Workshop has been in my computer and being worked on periodically for about 8 years. Every now and again as ideas arose
I would go back to it and do a little more. This was also the case with Heaven on Earth, though don't think this was around for quite as long.
Another book that has been periodically worked over many years, longer that The Devil's Workshop in fact, is Celtic Rites.
Now that I have the other two out there I have returned to Celtic Rites and hope to start getting back into it.
It's a humorous one again.
It's weird returning to a story. It's like the characters have been in suspended animation for all this time, but as soon as you mentally walk back into the world, in this case a sleepy village in rural England, they all become alive and begin walking and talking and going about their daily business again. Very strange! Somehow though, it is like coming home to a place that you know so well. I know the village and the pub (The Badly Slaughtered Duck), the residents, I know where in the village they live, I know the moors and the surrounding land and the nearby city. This coming home feeling inspires and makes you want to give the characters the life they deserve and you originally wanted for them. So, I am felling quite inspired at the moment.
